Dear Joelle,
Nine years ago I had a never ending 3rd of July followed by a not really quiet night. But early in the morning a cute little person with full black hair was lying on my chest, already smiling and ready for the wonderful big world.
Since then we undergone a lot of adventures, I dried many tears, you painted various pictures, we laughed and cuddled lots. Sometimes we have different opinions but often we’re the winning team nobody’s able to stop. We spent hours on the soccer field, we climbed up mountains and we ran a couple of miles together. Sometimes I struggle with your bullhead and sometimes you’re stressed out about my mania of cleaning up. And I think this will keep us still busy the next couples of years too. You told me thousand wonderful stories and we sang countless songs together. You can turn us all crazy with your desire for sweets and is there someone who didn’t start laughing when you get the giggles?
Since almost two years we live in Charlotte. You had to learn a new language, you had to find new friends and to interact with a new culture. This day you’re fluently in English, you have a cool bunch of funny friends, you’re playing soccer in a competitive team and you achieved all the end of year goals at school. Hat’s off to you!
Today you’re turning 9. This morning while you were sleeping I was looking at you, I fell in love with you for the 3,285 time and I still could feel this unique feeling in my whole body, like I had at this special 4th of July in 2008. Now you’re a charming young girl with a fascinating personality and yes actually long blonde hair. I know from my own experience that it’s not always easy to be the second born but you manage this great and you already found your own special manner that helps you to go through the world.
Happy Birthday my sweet little girl, I’m so proud of you, I love you to the moon and back and I can’t wait to experience new things with you. I’m so fortunate to have two such gorgeous daughters in my life.
Looking forward to the next 365 days around the sun!
Kisses, mum.
By the way: happy anniversary America: land of the free, home of the brave. I’m thankful that I have the opportunity to spend time in this beautiful country!
